Matthew Lee is a New York Christian Rock Guitarist and the creative force behind Ultra Violet Vinny, XCORE SOCIETY, and The Red Quarter. Known for his dynamic playing and gritty sound, Matt thrives in the heart of the music scene—recording, touring, shredding in bands, and laying down tracks for other artists in the studio.
With roots in both heavy music and worship, Matthew is currently crafting bold new music with one mission: to glorify God and shake the walls while doing it.
Matt’s influences stretch across the secular sonic spectrum—from classical music to the raw power of Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, and Killswitch Engage, to the faith-driven sounds of Skillet, Demon Hunter, and August Burns Red, Fireflight, all the way to the worshipful soul of artists like Red Rocks Worship, Phil Wickham, Jesus Culture, and Jeremy Camp. Blending intensity with conviction, Matthew Lee is carving out a sound that’s both fierce and faith-filled.
Equipment & Tone: When it comes to gear, Matthew is a true tone chaser. Over the years, he’s played and recorded with a wide range of guitars—Gibson, Charvel, Jackson, Washburn, Carvin, and more—but his guitar brand of choice today is Ibanez, delivering the perfect mix of speed, comfort, and punch.
On the amp front, he’s rocked through everything from Marshall and Peavey to Randall and custom builds, but currently swears by Line 6 amps for their versatility and crushing tones.
For effects, Matt’s explored an arsenal of sounds using Boss, Korg, Ibanez, ADA, Alesis, ART, and beyond. These days, he keeps it tight and modern with Line 6 effects, dialing in the textures that define his signature sound—whether he’s going clean and ambient or full-on heavy.
Offstage Factoids: Beyond the music, Matthew’s a man of many talents. He’s an amazing cook (homemade pizza is his specialty), a computer/tech geek and digital marketing wizard, and when he’s not in the studio or on stage, you’ll probably find him soaking up the sun at the beach or dreaming of tropical islands.
